Precision Cut Stones
What is a precision cut stone, what is a calibrated stone. A precision cut stone is cut by hand on a machine that is specially engineered to allow repetition of cutting to exacting angles. Stones cut in this way are generally optimized to allow as much light to move through the stone and back to your eye based on the type of stone. Precision cutting is the difference in something that grabs your attention because you've not seen anything quite like it, side by side a precision cut stone and a native cut stone even from the same original rough material will likely be different, the precision cut will likely be brighter, and have a vibrance that the native stone lacks.
A calibrated stone on the other hand is one that meets measurement standards to be easily mounted in standard sized settings ie production stones. Think 6mm x 9 mm ovals, or 12 mm rounds. This is why native cut stones have measurements noted as they are likely to require more work to set.
